Priya’s Journey

Hi, and welcome to my journey.

I have always been intrigued by the human body’s innate ability to heal itself, an interest that stemmed from my early childhood, coming from a lineage of healers.

Growing up I was deeply attracted to the traditional Indian concept of using spices and herbs from the kitchen pantry as a means of restoring the body’s natural state of balance.

There is an ancient Sanskrit saying: “food can either be the disease, or the cure”.  That is how accurate we get in Ayurveda, your digestion is everything. I get deep into digestion, not only of your food but also of your emotions and thoughts.

I had chronic psoriasis since the age of two, but I have come to understand that my journey towards curing myself was in fact my journey in connecting with myself. I take that as a big blessing, or I would not have been where I am today.

My passions in natural healing eventually brought me to Perth where I studied Ayurveda and graduated with an Advanced Diploma from the Australian Institute of Holistic Medicine in 2014.

Ayurveda, pronounced as “AYUH-VE-DHA”, originated in India over 5,000 years ago. It is considered to be one of the oldest healing sciences. The beauty of Ayurveda is that it recognises each being is unique in constitution, and therefore each individual’s healing journey needs to be equally unique. Ayurveda is a complete and universal science of life.

Ayurveda gave me the tools to be in sync with my mind and body, and my goal is to share these tools with you. The ultimate medicine is your connection with yourself, by connecting with yourself you can begin to listen to your body and understand the causes of balance or imbalance.

This is the first step on the journey towards health and wellbeing.

My Approach to Healing

My goal is to empower you to heal by achieving a state of balance between you and your mind, body and environment. I take a holistic approach by extending my focus beyond the symptomatic and addressing the root causes for imbalance in the body.

I seek to encourage a proactive approach to health and wellbeing with emphasis on diet and lifestyle. I draw on Ayurveda’s sister science, Yoga, to incorporate breathing techniques, chanting and other asanas towards achieving a healthy equilibrium.

Ayurveda recognises the body as a dynamic organism, and therefore there is a need to adapt our practices to align with the changes in environment, seasons, and in our lifestyle.

As an Ayurveda Practitioner I will guide and support you through these changes by calibrating your balanced state benchmark at each point.Since experiencing the benefits of complementary medicine, I can’t imagine doing anything else. It combines my greatest passions in life: connecting with people; scientific enquiry; phytotherapeutic/plant-based medicines; and helping others lead healthier lives.

Taking a multi-disciplined approach

I take a multi-disciplinary approach to healing by utilising a wide range of techniques towards health and wellbeing.

I have an Advanced Diploma in Ayurveda, a Diploma in Beauty Therapy, and Certificates in Reiki and Reflexology.

I am also currently studying Energy Medicine part-time to expand on my passions and to further develop my multi-faceted healing repertoire.

What I like doing outside of work

One of my favourite activities is making traditional indian chai, there is just something magical in the heart warming flavours of spiced tea.

Whether I’m having a cup to myself or bring friends and family together at the table, it’s part of my daily ritual!

I believe the kitchen is the heart of our home, where creativity and love come together and awakens our senses. I absolutely love the creative process that is cooking.

Something that always energises me is being around my loving and supportive husband, he is a huge part of my being. My days and adventures are always filled with his energy.

I lived in Albany for two years and fell in love with the beautiful scenery that the Great Southern has to offer. I often make the trip down to camp under the towering eucalypts, walk along the breathtaking beaches, and trek through the hidden trails. We’re so blessed to live in this amazing corner of our planet.

Thanks for landing on my page, I look forward to being a part of your journey towards health and wellbeing.
