Katia Haley BHSc.Naturopath, Hypnotherapist and Allergy AdvisorHere to help you

Hi I’m Katia and this is My Story

My passion in life is holistic medicine and helping people overcome their battles.

This passion started at a young age as I embarked on my own personal healing journey.

As a teenager, I was diagnosed with depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder. I constantly felt let down by the medical system so I went searching down the path of natural therapies.

After engaging with a naturopath my life turned around. I went from being overweight and suicidal to the best version of myself, happy and confident.

My passion for holistic medicine was ignited.

Along my journey, I realised there are few opportunities for sufferers to learn what they can do for themselves through holistic therapies – I am determined to change that.

In 2021 at the age of 29, it became apparent that I have ADHD. Boy was that a game changer! All my struggles and challenges in life began to make sense. A self-discovery journey began (and continues) and my passion for holistic medicine quickly started to evolve around the world of neurodivergence.

Having a diagnosis helped me immensely and my excelling grades at University proved this.

I experimented with pharmaceutical medication, paired that with everything I was learning about holistic medicine, and I found what worked for me. This deepened my desire and broadened my abilities to help people overcome their health battles, especially other adult ADHDers.

Understanding of the Link Between Allergies, Histamine, and ADHD:

There is an intricate relationship between these seemingly unrelated conditions. Research suggests that allergies and ADHD may share a common underlying factor: histamine. Histamine is a compound produced by the body in response to allergens, such as pollen, dust mites, or certain foods. In individuals with allergies, the immune system overreacts to these triggers, leading to the release of histamine and the onset of allergic symptoms like sneezing, itching, and congestion.

However, histamine doesn’t just affect the respiratory system—it also plays a crucial role in neurotransmission within the brain. Studies have found that elevated histamine levels may contribute to the symptoms of ADHD, including hyperactivity, impulsivity, and difficulty focusing.

Furthermore, some individuals with ADHD may have a genetic predisposition to impaired histamine metabolism, leading to elevated levels of histamine in the brain. This dysregulation can disrupt neurotransmitter balance and contribute to ADHD symptoms.

By addressing underlying allergies and reducing histamine levels through targeted dietary and lifestyle interventions, naturopathic medicine offers a holistic approach to managing ADHD symptoms.

As your naturopath, I am here to support you every step of the way, providing personalised treatment plans tailored to your unique needs and goals.

What I like doing outside of work

When I’m not immersed in the world of naturopathy, you’ll often find me exploring various avenues of self-expression and personal growth.

Music has always been a cornerstone of my life, and I find solace and inspiration through playing the piano. It’s a practice that not only soothes my soul but also fosters creativity and mindfulness.

Yoga and dance are integral parts of my lifestyle, providing not only physical strength and flexibility but also mental clarity and emotional balance. I find peace and joy in moving my body and exploring its capabilities.

Kings Park holds a special place in my heart, where I often retreat to reconnect with nature and find moments of serenity amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life. Walking amidst the greenery brings me immense joy and rejuvenation.

In my downtime, I indulge in reading books, particularly those focused on personal development and the intricacies of the human psyche. I believe in the power of continuous learning and self-improvement, and these books serve as guiding lights on my journey of growth.

As an ADHDer I like to get creative! This could be anything from painting art, graphic design work, or taking photos.

The beach is my sanctuary, a place where I feel most grounded and at peace. Whether it’s soaking up the sun, listening to the soothing sounds of the waves, or simply taking a leisurely stroll along the shore, time spent by the ocean is invaluable to me.

Last but certainly not least, quality time with my partner is something I cherish deeply. Whether it’s enjoying a home-cooked meal together, embarking on spontaneous adventures, or simply sharing meaningful conversations, their presence enriches my life in countless ways.
