My Inspirations

Hello.

I’m Jo, a Clinical Nutritionist with a passion for making a difference in people’s lives through nutrition. With over a decade of experience in nutritional medicine, along with years of lecturing and mentoring in the field, I’ve come to firmly believe that understanding what we eat lays the groundwork for our health journey.

Having raised my own children, I’ve faced the challenges of dealing with allergies and food intolerances firsthand. From skin outbreaks to sleepless nights due to discomfort, I’ve been there, and I know how overwhelming it can be for parents. That’s why I’ve dedicated myself to helping families navigate these dietary needs with expertise and empathy.

When I work with patients, I approach each case with care and attention, taking the time to truly understand their unique health concerns. Whether it’s a child struggling with allergies or an adult dealing with digestive issues, my goal is to empower them with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions about their health.

My clinical focus revolves around digestive health, including addressing dysbiosis and food intolerances, as well as anxiety and chronic disease prevention. I often utilise functional testing, such as food sensitivity tests or gut microbiome analysis, to uncover individual factors that may be contributing to health issues.

Armed with this knowledge, we can tailor a plan to support digestion and overall well-being.

I firmly believe that knowledge is power, especially when it comes to our health. By combining nutritional expertise with personalised care, I strive to make a positive impact on the lives of my patients, helping them achieve greater health and vitality.

Looking forward to embarking on this health journey together!

My experience and goals

I am a Clinical Nutritionist holding a Bachelor of Health Science in Nutritional Medicine and a Graduate Certificate in Wellness. I am registered with the Australian Traditional Medicine Society.

My consultations are eligible for private health fund rebates.

I have been in practice for over a decade working in Nutrition consulting and practitioner education.

I work to empower my client’s health via knowledge and sustainable change. Together working on your nutrition choices, I can assist in conditions which are a result of, or are affected by, dietary choices.

My goal will be to work to optimise your body’s digestion and it’s uptake of nutrients to improve your wellbeing.

My clinical focus is on:

  • Digestion (Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Dysbiosis, Alternating Bowel Function – Bloating and Gas)

  • Food Intolerances; which often lead to skin issues such as Eczema, unexplained skin rashes and hives

  • Functional Medicine Pathology – including Gastro Intestinal Mapping (GI Map), Food Intolerance testing ( IgG ), Food Allergy testing (IgE)
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Energy

  • Hormonal health

Nourishment for You

Your wellbeing relies heavily on your digestive function to nourish your body effectively. This can be a challenge if you are facing difficulty with intolerances, allergies or poor digestion leading to discomfort.

Signs of poor digestive health can include bloating, gas, flatulence, burping, pain and altered bowel movements.

Foods you eat, pathogens or gut microbial imbalance (dysbiosis) can all have an impact. The intestinal tissues rely on tight cellular gap junctions which provide a barrier for the digestive system. Problems can occur when these tissue junctions are compromised leading to intestinal barrier dysfunction, or otherwise known as ‘leaky gut’. This can contribute to many digestive disturbances.

The GI Mapping is a functional pathology test which can assess your digestive environment and can provide important information on the microbial balance, parasites, yeast/fungi, digestive functionality, inflammation and the intestinal barrier. Discuss with me whether this test could be of assistance in your digestion assessment.

Other gut health tests available include Food Intolerance testing, Coeliac profile and Complete Digestive Stool Analysis.

Food and Nutrition are what I like doing both inside and outside of work

I’m truly passionate about creative and healthy food preparation for myself and my family. In my kitchen, I find joy in exploring flavours, textures, and ingredients to craft nourishing meals that not only taste amazing but also support our well-being.

To me, cooking isn’t just about putting food on the table; it’s a form of self-expression and a way to show love and care to my family. I love nothing more than experimenting with fresh ingredients and cooking techniques to create dishes that are both nutritious and delicious.

As a mother, I take great pleasure in preparing meals that bring my family together. Mealtime isn’t just about eating; it’s a time to connect, share stories, and create lasting memories with the ones I love most.

Whether I’m whipping up a colourful salad or simmering a hearty soup, I approach cooking with enthusiasm and creativity. I believe that food should not only nourish our bodies but also uplift our spirits and bring us joy.

Through my dedication to creative and healthy food preparation, I hope to inspire others to embrace a balanced and nutritious approach to eating. After all, there’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of enjoying a homemade meal.
